O artigo discute como interpretar a dimensão política da obra de Michel Foucault e Gilles Deleuze (com ou sem seu parceiro de escritura Félix Guattari), contrapondo-se a tendências e clichês interpretativos que são comuns tanto a alguns críticos quanto a alguns partidários destes autores. Em particular, questiona a ideia de que, para ambos, haveria uma relação de exclusividade mútua entre “micro” e “macropolítica”, tema que desenvolve em direções conexas – no tocante, por exemplo, a forma como ética e política se articulam no pensamento dos dois.

This article discusses how to interpret the political dimension of the work of Michel Foucault and Gilles Deleuze (with our without his writing his writing partner Félix Guattari), offering a counterpoint to certain interpretative tendencies and clichés that are common both to some critics and some partisans of the two authors. In particular, it questions the idea that, for the two authors, ‘micro-’ and ‘macropolitics’ would stand in a mutually exclusive relation to each, a theme then developed in other, related directions – such as, for example, the way in which ethics and politics are articulated in their thought.
