Rita Natálio nasceu em Lisboa em 1983 e realiza atualmente uma pós-graduação em Subjetividade na Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo com Peter Pal Pelbart e Suely Rolnik, com o apoio de bolsa de estudos da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Estudou Artes do Espetáculo Coreográfico na Universidade de Paris VIII e, como intérprete, realizou o Curso de Pesquisa Coreográfica do Fórum Dança 2006. A sua atividade principal tem-se centrado na área da dramaturgia, escrita e direção de projetos de performance. O seu trabalho cruza a criação de espetáculos com os seus estudos académicos na área da biopolítica e da estética. Até hoje, as suas peças relacionavam-se com o uso da biografia e do retrato como instituições culturais da identidade nacional de onde podem emergir ideias coreográficas ou teatrais. Exemplo disso é o projeto de improvisação “Nada do que dissemos até agora teve a ver comigo”, estreado no Ciclo “DOCUMENTE-SE! na Fundação de Serralves em 2009 e ainda “Não se vê que sou eu mas é um retrato”, estreado em 2011 no Festival Temps d’Images, uma ficção teatral e plástica a partir de entrevistas com portugueses entre os 9 e os 90 anos sobre as suas ideias e desejos de comunidade. A sua terceira peça, “Não entendo e tenho medo de entender, o mundo assusta-me com os seus planetas e baratas”, estreado no Teatro São Luiz em 2012, parte “retratos falados” e de cópia e a apropriação de fontes da história de arte que usam o retrato como figura condutora.

MUSEU ENCANTADOR é o seu quarto projeto de criação, com ideia original e produção independente, mas desta vez, com a participação de um grupo alargada de artistas portugueses e brasileiros. Explorando o âmbito da identidade nacional e da cultura luso-brasileira como realidade psíquica, o MUSEU ENCANTADOR é a continuação da sua pesquisa e ao mesmo tempo uma nova etapa do seu trabalho.
Como dramaturgista, Rita Natálio coloborou mais regularmente com Vera Mantero, João Fiadeiro, Cláudia Dias, Guilherme Garrido, Pieter Ampe, António Pedro Lopes e Marianne Baillot. Faz parte da rede internacional de jovens artistas Sweet and Tender Collaborations e colabora regularmente com projetos ligados à escrita e crítica de artes performativas (festival Alkantara, rede europeia DÉPARTS /DNA Departures and Arrivals).

Rita Natálio (Portugal) was born in Lisbon in 1983. She studied History in Lisboa and Choreography at Université Paris VIII,She recently moved to São Paulo/Brazil, where she is doing the post graduation in the Subjectivity Nucleum in PUC-SP with the philosopher Peter Pál Pelbart and the psychoanalyst and art theoretician Suely Rolnik.

She is primarily active in the fields of dramaturgy and accompaniment of artistic and research projects. She has collaborated with João Fiadeiro, Vera Mantero, Cláudia Dias,Guilherme Garrido, Pieter Ampe, António Pedro Lopes, Marianne Baillot, and João Lima. Since 2008, she has been developing her own work. With the video-performance artist Ivo Serra she co-created “Screen” for the Temps d’Images Festival in Lisbon and the shortfilm “Looking back into the future”. She also directed an improvisation project called “Nothing of what we have said so far had to do with me” which  is part of a trilogy around identity, biography and Portuguese identity together with the solo work I” don’t understand and I am afraid of understanding, the world scares me with its planets and cockroaches” for Elizabete Francisca and the trio “You can’t see me but it’s a portrait “with the collaboration of the visual Italian artist Luciana Fina.She co-directed together with Ana Borralho & Joao Galante, Joclécio Azevedo and Vera Mantero, “SUBREPTITIOUS- clandestine body”, an invitation to the nude body in which wearing clothes is optional for the audience. She was part of Work it! an international encounter of european and asiatic women performers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. “Charming Museum” is her forth project of creation, together with the Brazilian director Joana Levi.

Rita has also worked at RE.AL, an organization created by João Fiadeiro, coordinating and assisting training/research projects around Real Time Composition, and has taught in the Choreographic Creation and Dance Research Training Program at Forum Dança in Lisbon. She collaborates in documentation projects connected with performing arts (Alkantara festival and DÉPARTS website)Rita Natálio is part of Sweet and Tender Collaborations, an international network and platform of artists (www.sweetandtender.org).
